
Indonesia is the least known of the world?s best dive location. It will be many years before diving in Indonesia reaches its full potential, which has both great advantages and serious drawbacks. Experience divers will be excited by the possibility of diving clear, rich water without being surrounded by hordes of human beings. It is still very possible to dive areas where no one has yet gone. This will be a refreshing change from developed site like the Caribbean, the Great Barrier Reef, the Maldives and the popular spots in the Pacific Island. Dive services and guide in Indonesia are variable. Most of these guides have spent more time underwater than their customers, accumulation thousands of dives, and are excellent scuba divers. This does not make them all good guide though, some of the Dive-tour operators employ good and reliable dive-guides. This is not much of a problem for well-trained, experienced, divers, particularly those who are traveling as a group. In fact, if you fall into this category, Indonesia is going to be a paradise for diving. Beginner, on the other hand, are advices to use extreme caution, stick to the easy location and very particular in choosing a guide. In all case be extremely wary of rental gear. In most places, dive guide and assistants will ready your gear for you, but we suggest you do this your self. Test everything, regulator, gauges, BC valves and straps. You should infer from this advice that we highly recommend you to bring your own gear.
